Nice sunny morning as we picked up Sam and Angie at Zagreb airport before hitting the road for the Adriatic coast. The four-lane divided highway had a posted speed limit of 130 kph, about 80 mph. Good thing we stayed in the right lane. Had a few beamers and benzs blow by us "autobahnning"at about 170 kph. Maybe those speed signs are just a suggested speed!
We checked into the villa we are renting for the week in the little fishing village of Volosko. It's called Il Palazzo. Very nice accommodations and right on the tiny harbor. There are a handful of reataurants and bars right outside the front door.
We headed to the supermarket to stock up on groceries, wine and beer. Very modern store similar to the ones at home, even a few familiar labels.
We are now relaxing at the villa with windows flung open to the sea, hearing distant church bells beckoning local folks to come celebrate the birth of Jesus. We will be hiking up the hill behind the villa later tonight to attend midnight mass in a 300 year old church. So with that, let me wish you all a very merry and blessed Christmas from the Springli family in Croatia.
